Electricity Part II: A Toddler Fell in the Trench and then a Dog Tripped Over Her…
The toddler stood up laughing, and the dog licked her before running off. This post is the second part to installing electric… we are trenching the hole for the electrical cord! To get caught up see Kennel.
Trenching is when you dig a long hole for electric or water. Typically these holes are at least 2 feet deep. For this project we rented a trencher, but if you chose to go this route it will significantly add to your costs.
My poor husband and his friend ran the trencher all day. My husband had to run the trencher even more the next day, and didn’t have enough time to finish the water line. Once the ground was part way trenched for the electric line my husband started placing the cable at the very bottom of the hole. This helped to save time because I started filling in the hole with a shovel while the men ran the trencher.
We are loving the dog kennel with full electric!! It just takes some hard work and dedication to get there! Have you ever trenched a hole?
